About Nick

A food scientist with a maker’s way of seeing.

Nick Huemmer has spent his career turning observations into products: testing, tasting, measuring, building, and finding the next useful question.

Science, craft, and practical curiosity.

Nick is a food scientist and product developer based in Richmond, Virginia. His work has crossed ingredients, formulation, sensory experience, nutrition, process improvement, and commercial scale-up.

He holds an MS in Food Science from The Ohio State University and a BS spanning biological sciences, food science, and nutrition from North Carolina State University. He has also worked in software engineering—another chapter in a longer habit of learning systems by building with them.

Outside the lab, his interests include sewing, hiking, reading natural science and philosophy, training dogs, and time with his family.
