What’s Really in Cheddar Jalapeño Cheetos?
An ingredient-by-ingredient look at the structure, cheese powder, savory flavor system, acids, and colors behind the snack.
The flavor of a cheddar jalapeño corn snack is assembled in layers. The corn base supplies the structure, while a dry seasoning system delivers dairy, aromatics, acidity, savory intensity, and color.
The cheese powder itself is a manufactured ingredient: a liquid mixture is homogenized, spray-dried, collected, and often dry-blended with other components for a particular application. The finished product is less a single flavor than a carefully balanced system of complementary signals.
